So over the past month I’ve been working on several modules to provide QtQuick/QML and HTML5 applications with the ability to transfer seamlessly from one device to another. The approach I’ve taken is to use HTML5′s local storage facility, which QtQuick also provides, and simply copy the data-store for any given application from one device to another.

Since the announcement of Tizen the most contentious part of it all has been the dropping of Qt from Tizen going froward. Well Nomovok have announced a Nomovok Tizen build that has Qt integrated straight off the bat !!!!

Nokia's development community just got its first taste of near field lovin' with the first Qt SDK to support NFC.

When creating a QLabel for displaying text information, be aware that the class tries to guess whether the format is plain text or whether it is rich text. Especially if you expect the data to be plain text, but you cannot control its source, e.g. when loading data from the Web, it might be a good idea to set the text format explicitly via setTextFormat() or escape your input via Qt::escape().

Qt 4.8.0 string freeze is now in effect. Please, no changes to strings from this point, unless approved by the Doc-team. Changing the strings now will cause frustration for people who contribute translations.

The raspberry pi initiative is very compelling and (forgive me for the hype) just got even more compelling now that we have Qt 5 running with full acceleration on the target. A tagline of “An ARM Linux box for $25. Take a byte!” sums it up rather nicely and should get many a geeks pulse racing. The Mer community have been good about getting Qt up and running on the Raspberry PI and we appreciate their drive and rapid work. We will now proceed to document how to build Qt in order to have full OpenGL ES 2 (tested) and OpenVG support
