Scanner Access Now Easy (SANE) è una API (application programming interface) che fornisce un accesso standardizzato all'hardware di qualsiasi scanner (scanner a superficie piana, scanner palmari, video e fotocamere, frame grabber, ecc.). Le API di SANE sono di dominio pubblico e il suo sviluppo è aperto a tutti. E 'comunemente usato sotto Linux. Dopo quasi un anno e qualche incertezza sul suo futuro torna XSane, più forte che mai con la nuova release 0.996 e qualche bugfix. this version fixes some bugs: * corrected bug in PDF documents * viewer window does not use full screen without window frame for large images any more Vediamo le news: 7 aggiornamenti durante il 2007 uno solo per il 2008. Speriamo non sia un brutto presaggio.

Ieri mi sono ritrovato a dover utilizzare lo scanner (un Mustek 1200 UB) per scannerizzare una vecchia foto da ritoccare e devo dire che la procedura di installazione su Ubuntu è stata veramente semplice, molto di più di quello che mi aspettavo. Mi e venuto incontro un fantastico tool ed uno dei suoi front-end grafici, sto parlando di Sane e XSane. Vediamo come installarli sulla nostra Ubuntu-Box.

Attraverso XSane è possibile acuisire immagini, fare fotocopie, creare FAX, creare e inviare mail. e punta a rendere il più semplice possibile l'acquisizione delle immagini e di altri contenuti attraverso il proprio scanner in ambiente

Questo frontend offre inoltre caratteristiche avanzate come ad esempio la correzione del colore, scans multipli ecc. ed è anche fruibili come plugin per Gimp.

XSane è un software libero rilasciato sotto licenza GPL ed è disponibile per il sistema operativo GNU/Linux, vari sistemi Unix-like e MS-Windows.
