Nel momento incui ho effettuato l'upgrade a Ubuntu 8.10 ho automaticamente perso la possibilita' di utilizzare AWN (Avant Window Navigator) e tutta la parte sinistra della tastiera (tastierino numerico, frecce e comandi Home, End.. per intenderci). Quando cercavo di personalizzare la visualizzazione di Ubuntu passando da "nessuna" a "normale" appariva un messaggio di errore che mi avvisava che l'hardware non era compatibile con la risoluzione desiderata. Per varie settimane (sic!) ho tentato ogni possibile soluzione: aggiornamento dei driver NVidia, installazione di nuovi driver (anche non stabili) per la scheda grafica, ecc.. senza alcun risultato. Su internet ho contemporaneamente trovato ogni possibile (e impossibile) soluzione ma l'unico rimedio utile e' stato quello di provvedere alla disintallazione del pacchetto xserver-xgl attraverso Synaptic Package Manager. Sinceramente non so spiegarmi il perche' questa operazione mi abbia permesso di passare in modalita' grafica Normale (e poi Custom) ne perche' ora la tastiera funzioni nuovamente al 100% ma desidero condividere questa possibile soluzione nel caso possa essere utile anche a qualcun altro.
