La nuova versione del popolare editor grafico sotto licenza GNU, tra le differenti implementazioni annovera il supporto per la GEGL, un potente framework per la gestione delle immagini

C'è una iniziativa particolare e simpatica per chi vuole imparare ad usare gimp o photoshop. Sempre sfruttando le potenzialità elearning di Second Life( ambietnte 3 d) e con il supporto di Moodle (piataforma elearning) su ..., c'è un gruppo che si sta formando in cerca di nuovi partecipanti per imaparare insieme. Il Centro Paideia non è nuovo a queste cose ed organizza anche altri corsi di studio per principianti ( ad esempio java). Naturalmente non è a scopo di lucro, è gratuito e non c'è pubblicità, inoltre la cosa è divertente ed originale.

Molti gradiranno TheGimpShop, un "incrocio-software" tra The Gimp  e Photoshop, con tutte le funzioni dell'applicativo Opensource combinato ad una interfaccia grafica che rispecchia quella dell'editor grafico Photoshop, naturalmente tutto con licenza gratuita. Molti infatti hanno limitato l'uso di The Gimp a causa dell'interfaccia grafica effettivamente poco intuitiva...

I recently stumbled across a very promising alternative to Adobe Photoshop which runs on many different operating systems (and no, it’s not The Gimp!). This is especially good news for Linux users who are tired of running the outdated Photoshop 7.0 in WINE (although some have gotten CS2 to work).For quite some time website developers using Linux as their operating system of choice have been pretty much forced to use The Gimp as their image editor. Since I use Linux as my operating system, this made things very difficult. I found that The Gimp wasn’t exactly my kind of image editor. It didn’t seem to have the same kind of feel as Photoshop. So like many others I used the very old Photoshop 7.0 in WINE. This didn’t really work either. It wasn’t nearly as powerful as Photoshop CS2 or CS3
