Scopo dell'articolo di quest'oggi è farci un'idea su quali siano le possibilità, attualmente disponibili, in giro per la rete, per soddisfare le nostre esigenze in materia di webserver. Oggi come oggi è sempre più frequente trasportare dati in maniera compatta (Cd-Rom ma soprattutto USB stick, hard disk portatili) ed anche se sembra un traguardo difficile da raggiungere, c'è chi si è dato da fare per permetterci anche questa possibilità.

Un progetto di due anni di lavoro in ricerca, della società, per rendere il caricamento dei siti web più rapido, il tutto all'interno di un modulo per Apache web server, che è l'hosting web più comune e diffuso al giorno d'oggi.

Nginx è un server Web emergente (che sostiene di far funzionare circa il 12% dei siti web) ed è conosciuto per le sue alte prestazioni, stabilità, ricco set di funzioni, semplice configurazione e basso consumo di risorse. Personalmente lo sto usando dal 2010 e finora tutto bene, senza particolari problemi, fa perfettamente il suo lavoro ed è aggiornato di frequente dagli sviluppatori, sono davvero felice di come sta funzionando sulla mia VPS e in questo tempo ho imparato alcuni piccoli trucchi e suggerimenti che forse vi potrebbero far risparmiare del tempo in futuro.

Proprio come è stato per Arduino, credo che il successo di questo modulo sia e sarà anche dovuto all’ambiente di sviluppo software essenziale, intuitivo e alla semplicità di programmazione grazie alla disponibilità di API e funzioni già scritte e pronte per essere richiamate nel proprio codice. L’unica cosa che mi ha lasciato l’amaro in bocca è che per poterlo installare è necessario aggiornare il Framework alla versione 4.
