Autotools: a practitioner’s guide to Autoconf, Automake and Libtool (Chapter 1)

In this chapter I’ve presented a high-level overview of the Autotools to give you a feel for how everything ties together.In the next chapter, we’ll begin creating a hand-coded build system for a toy project. The idea is that you’ll become familiar with the requirements of a reasonable build system, and how much can be done for you by the Autotools.Too many developers these days start out with the Autotools, not having aquired through the “school of hard knocks” the experience to know what it’s really doing for them. This can lead to frustration, and a negative attitude. In the next chapter, you’ll become familiar with the rationale for a lot of the original design of the Autotools. In understanding this background information, my hope is that any potential negative bias you may already have for the Autotools will be tempered a bit.

capita di dover far vedere a colleghi / amici il file su cui si sta lavorando e, talvolta, la chat non è il mezzo più adatto per valutare questi tipi di file, visto che hanno del codice (PHP, Perl, Bash, C ecc).

Con grande letizia vi segnalo una strepitosa chicca: l'intervista fatta a Bjarne Stroustrup riguardo all'evoluzione dello standard C++0x, l'educazione dei programmatori e il futuro della programmazione. Per chi non lo conoscesse Bjarne Stroustrup è quel personaggio che ha creato le prime definizioni del C++ e ha gettato le basi per la sua implementazione!

SDL 1.2.13

E' disponibile una nuova versione del ramo stabile della libreria SDL, la 1.2.13 con diversi bugfix. Con essa rilasciate anche nuove versioni di varie librerie ausiliarie utili quando si sviluppa con SDL. Vi segnaliamo anche qualche tutorial per cominciare in C e Python con pygame.

Stamattina ho trovato una utility veramente carina. Anche se non sono un grandissimo esperto di programmazione, posso dire che più o meno riesco a barcamenarmi con l’uso delle librerie Qt.
