GQview is a free software image viewer created by John Ellis using the GTK+ toolkit, designed to run on the X Window System. For MS Windows, an unofficial port is also available.GQview is a convenient, configurable image browser that runs well regardless of desktop environment, though it does require GTK 2.2. It has a couple of features especially useful in archiving digital camera photos. For example, "auto rename" allows one to rename a bunch of photos at one go. In addition, JPEG images can be easily rotated 90 degrees cw or ccw. Gqview can also call on an external editor such as The GIMP for more complex image editing. It also includes a rather interesting feature, "duplicate finder". If you're looking for a decent image viewer and album program then Gqview might be what you are looking for.

KDE è sempre stato conosciuto come un Desktop Environment per Linux. Da un po’ di tempo, però, un team di sviluppatori sta lavorando per portare le applicazioni KDE in Windows. Il progetto che si occupa di compiere questo porting si chiama “KDE on Windows Project“, e si sta dando molto da fare. Poche settimane fa gli sviluppatori di KOffice, la famosa office suite Open Source, hanno rilasciato KOffice 2.0 Alpha per Windows, Mac e Linux.

Questa settimana, KOfficeCource GmbH, una compagnia che venderà servizi che ruotano intorno a KOffice, ha annunciato la propria presenza sul mercato. I fondatori comprendono un piccolo gruppo di membri della comunità di sviluppatori come pure persone di talento che non appartengono a tale comunità. Tutti insieme condividono l'interesse nel promuovere KOffice offrendo un supporto di tipo commerciale in aggiunta al sempre presente supporto non commerciale che si ottiene grazie alle mailing list e sulla rete IRC. Come si intuisce dal nome, essa è stata creata in Germania ma opererà in tutta Europa e in altri paesi.

Incontro con Emanuele Tamponi, sviluppatore attivo del team KOffice che si occupa in particolar modo di Krita.
